Description

Kalbarri offers some of the best year-round shore and boat fishing opportunities between Perth and Exmouth. Deep water adjacent to the shoreline and the cliffs create an environment where anything is possible! Grab a copy of the Kalbarri Fishing Guide from the Visitor Centre and stock up on bait at the local shops.

The best way to ensure you’re in the right place at the right time, with the right equipment is to join a Kalbarri fishing charter. Anglers always have a great day with catches of Snapper, Bald Chin, Dhufish, Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Dolphin fish, Trevally, Whaler sharks & Cod.

Search under 'TOURS' at the top of the page for more information on fishing charters.

Kalbarri Shore Fishing

Tailor and Mulloway are the main targets for shore fishing at Wittecarra Creek and Red Bluff. Anglers often reel in 7-8 kilo monsters here but an average catch weighs in around a kilogram. Garfish, Whiting, Shark, Dart and Tarwhine can also be hooked during the summer months.

Murchison River Fishing

Estuary fishing can yield Whiting and Mulloway, Mangrove Jacks, Herring plus the occasional chopper tailor. Monster Black Bream can be caught in the Lower & Upper Reaches of the River. Blue swimmer and Mud crabs are also on the catch list.

Please remember that many Kalbarri fishing spots can be dangerous in rough conditions. The river mouth can also be hazardous under certain conditions. Do not take unnecessary risks. Check fishing reports and forecasts with the local Voluntary Marine Rescue, or join one of the experienced Kalbarri fishing charters.
