About Us

Originally the town ice works the property was purchased by the Finlay's.
G.B.F, Gantheaume Bay Fisheries was born and proceeded to export fish globally. In its prime G.B.F was bought to a crippling halt by the pilots strike in 1989.
The Finlays overcome this by creating there own market.

Finlays Fresh Fish BBQ was born and become an instant hit among locals and travelers alike, before too long people began coming to sleepy little Kalbarri just to experience the Finlays atmosphere that was gaining popularity rapidly.
Finlays with its fresh local produce and unique atmosphere become an icon to the town. It is for this reason that after Gary Finlay closed the restaurant in 2008 he soon reopened briefly due to public demand.
With Gary wanting to move on but also wanting to not kill an icon, Di and Wazz long time Kalbarri Locals stepped in to manage Finlays. Di is an accomplished chef with over 30 years experience and also an avid collector of all things, with this and her quirky personality it proved to be a natural transition.

In late 2015 with Di opting out to retire and Gary putting the property on the market, Emiley Aylott took control of the business and offered fresh Kalbarri fish.
Warrick & Melissa Finlay after moving to Kalbarri and undertaking renovations, are hoping to re-open March 2018 to again offer an experience worth sharing.
